Bishop Chatard rolled to its 16th regional football title in school history, pummelling the Indian Creek Braves 62-22 at Arlington High School Friday night. The Class 3A No. 1 Trojans scored the most points of the 2011 campaign, surpassing the 55 points scored against Broad Ripple on Aug. 26.

The trojans captured their 11th consecutive regional championship, the longest such streak in state history. Next week, Bishop Chatard will take to the road to play Corydon Central, who defeated Evansville Memorial in overtime.

In a Hollywood movie script,  Bishop Chatard, the high school girls volleyball team with the most losses ever (17) entering the state finals, would have knocked off the No. 1 ranked team to become perhaps the most famous "Cinderella" champion in Indiana girls volleyball history.

Alas, reality reigned supreme as the Class 3A  No. 1 Yorktown Tigers (37-2) beat the Trojans 25-13, 25-19 and 25-15 to take the state volleyball crown. The Trojans fought well and played hard, but the Tigers were too strong for taming.
